Jesus is at the center of every good thing in our lives. The tremendous promises of God are no exception. Notice that the Bible tells us that “all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Him.”

All of the peace, satisfaction, rest, hope, forgiveness, salvation, comfort, wisdom, etc. . . . are only made possible and are only made ours because of Jesus. Apart from Him, we have no rights or privileges before the Almighty Judge of the universe. Yet in Jesus, every spiritual blessing and benefit becomes ours. Amazing!

This truth ought to have a two-fold influence upon our hearts. On one hand, it should fill us with a profound sense of humility because we understand how weak and unworthy we are on our own. On the other hand, we should be filled with a powerful sense of confidence, because we understand that these promises are ours by virtue of Christ’s authority and accomplishments.

As we continue on with our lives, we need to do so with a humble confidence in the promises of God. If we lack in humility, if we lack in confidence, then they won’t translate into our lives as they should. But when we understand who we are apart from Christ and who we are in Him, then we’ll see God’s promises in their proper light . . . things that we could never earn for ourselves and yet things that we have every right to claim.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Ephesians 1:3 (NLT)
