Where Is Your Faith?

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. (James 1:22-25 NKJV)

I knew someone who went to church, believe in a God and spoke with conviction about the word when giving advice, but when she was going through the storms of life, the only words that was spoken out of her mouth was complaining. At a particular moment, after a church service I saw her and ask how everything was going? Instead of being encouraged by the word that was just delivered, she turned the attention on herself with complaints about what all that was happening in her life.

I quickly asked her, Where is your faith?

That’s a question that we need to ask ourselves as we continue on this journey of salvation. The bible says we should not only be hearer of the word, but doers. Are you practicing what you are preaching to others? Do you find yourself giving great uplifting advice to others in despair, but can’t control your tongue in regards to proclaiming your faith over your situation?

We have an advocate in Jesus Christ that tells us repeatedly that He is there to comfort, strengthen, protect and conqueror anything we are going through. The word tells us, faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the word of God.

Once we commit ourselves to getting into the word on a regular basis, the bible will begin to work for us. The word has life and is the key to unraveling all the spoken promises through faith.

As we continue to grow in the word, our faith will grow and we will discover that Jesus Christ is there to handle the difficulties surrounding us in our daily walk.Get into the word, discover what you have at your disposal and allow your faith to activate Jesus in you’re everyday battles. He conquered the cross already, now imagine what He can do in your life.

A friend of mine told me some things I said that were hurtful. I didn’t realize they were when I said them. I need to stop and think before I speak.
