It is very common to have a past of regrets and many of us somehow wish we could go back and change things. God wants us through His word not to focus anymore on the past, but press forward by keeping our eyes fixed on Him.

The choices we make in life is an action, and with any action there us a result, good or bad. God doesn’t dwell on the bad decisions we have made in the past present or in the future. He is a God of the future and does not stay in the now. He wants us to focus on the prize of eternal glory.

In Philippians 3:13-14, (“I do not consider, brethren, that I have captured and made it my own [yet]; but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. Philippians 3:13, 14) Paul reminds us what we need to do in order to fulfill the purpose of God in this life. Whatever other things he might have done, Paul makes sure he presses forward and not dwell in the past. He knows the past is source for condemnation.

Take claim of your future today and leave your past where it is. The future cannot change the past but if you consume yourself with grief and regrets, your past can affect your future.

Keep your eyes on the prize today.
