If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; (James 2:8 NKJV)
One of the biggest thing we do as human beings and even as Christians is develop an obsession with ourselves and everyone else is secondary, which it ought not to be.
I love what Pat Riley, former NBA basketball coach, says about the difficulty of building a good team. And if ever there has been a coach that knew how to mold guys together as a team – it’s Pat Riley. But he says,”Selfish stars focus on themselves. They resent others getting any glory. The most difficult thing for individuals to do when they become part of a team is to sacrifice, because it’s much easier to be selfish. He calls it “the disease of ME.”
Instead of thinking of ourselves when going through the storms if life, start focusing on others. Ask yourself today, “how can I be a blessing to someone?” Start taking your eyes of yourself and focus your attention on making others better. It will allow your circumstances to start to change drastically due to the love you shared.
Jesus reminds us numerous times if we love our neighbor as ourselves, we do well. That part of “doing well” is the moment you start to sacrifice your self gain to help others, your circumstances begins to change around you and automatically.
Focus on others today and let God’s Love shine so bright that it brightens the stormy clouds in your lives.
